Workshop Leader: Mike Palmquist, Mike.Palmquist@ColoState.edu
Enrollment Limit: 20
This workshop is designed for writers who would like to start creating Web pages, but haven't had the time to do so yet. Workshop participants will meet in a networked computer classroom where they will receive a brief introduction to Web site design and coding. Working with an experienced teacher of Web writing, they will practice hands-on activities, learn about tools for creating Web pages (ranging from text editors used to hand-code pages to dedicated HTML editors to built-in tools in word processing programs), and discuss issues related to designing and creating their own home pages. By the end of the workshop, participants will have created a simple Web page and will have learned about free resources that can be used to support Web writers. The emphasis will be on introductory concepts, including differences in audience and design considerations writers should take into account when they begin creating Web pages. This will be a hands-on, interactive -- and enjoyable -- workshop.
