Choosing Children's Books (Ages 6 - 9)

Workshop Leader: Jessica Richards-Palmquist and Linda Payton, jlrp@lycos.com
Enrollment Limit: 25

In this workshop, you will learn about new books for children ages six to nine, recent award-winning children's books, and old favorites. You'll also learn about how to choose children's books to reinforce concepts children are learning at school and to help children make connections between what they are learning and the world around them. Finally, you'll learn about useful sources of information for locating children's books. The workshop leaders bring a great deal of practical and personal experience to the session. Jessica Richards-Palmquist has two children, a nine-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son, and is a Junior Great Books leader at Tavelli Elementary School. Linda Payton is a mother of four children, and is the librarian at Tavelli Elementary School. During the workshop, you will receive handouts and have the opportunity, courtesy of Jade Creek Books, to look at new children's books.
